Doris received her doctorate from L'Universite de Toulouse, in France. As a clinical psychologist, she has dedicated 30 years to teaching and providing clinical care for women, geriatric population, and the terminally or chronic mentally ill. As president and CEO of Living Well, Doris is responsible for formulating Living Well's business and marketing strategy, creating the company culture, leading public relations efforts, representing management and the board to the general public and shareholders, and maintaining corporate integrity. Prior to co–founding Living Well, Dr. Bersing was CEO for Pacific Institute and the AgeSong communities, in San Francisco, a leading provider of psychological programming, senior services, education and research promoting individual and community wellness while teaching new perspectives on mental health, especially on aging. At Pacific Institute she unfolded all her expertise in training and education to lead and design a cutting-edge training program in Gero-psychology that received regional accreditation and was on its way for nation-wide recognition. She also created a set of wellness programs for elders that won the business award from the American Society on Aging. Doris is also a faculty member at the California Institute of Integral Studies and Saybrook University, where she designed a doctoral specialization in Gero-psychology and where she also acts as the Director of Clinical Training.
A pioneer for the practice of existential and humanistic gero-psychology, Dr. Bersing takes at heart all initiatives to build the critical mass that will change the face of the field of eldercare. A mentor in spirit and action, she devotes her life to better that of her clients, associates and students. She also served as Director of Programs and Care at L'hopital de Jour-Lefevbre in France and currently serves as an expert witness for the U.S Supreme Court in cases of political asylum and elder abuse. Author of several books and articles, Doris is now preparing a book about feminism and ageism titled: Still a chance: from Crone to Mentor.
Tessa is the co-founder of Living Well and its prior CEO. Presently, in conjunction with other members of the Executive Team, has responsibility for providing leadership and research on the economic value of home-based care. Tessa along with the president and CEO represents the board to the general public and shareholders and votes by the Board members, and enforces matters of ethics and integrity. Tessa was Vice President for the Institute on Aging, where she directed a large staff in the care management, assessment, psychology, education, marketing, and homecare departments. The Institute on Aging enables 20,000 frail seniors to remain in their own homes by providing a menu of homecare, health care, day programs, care management, wellness and mental health initiatives. It is the largest non–profit focused on senior care in the San Francisco Bay Area. A serial entrepreneur, Tessa was also founder and CEO for BAPTA — Northern California's largest psycho diagnostic company. Tessa is a geriatric psychologist by training, with 18 years' experience working with seniors. She frequently provides education, presentations, expert testimony and consultation on elder issues.
Tony has extensive experience working in the Life Science Industry in Silicon Valley, having held the lead finance positions of CFO and Vice President Finance. Most recently he has held positions at biomedical companies, A-Cube, Inc. and Neuraltus Pharmaceuticals, Inc. and in the medical device industry at Rubicor Medical, Inc. and Encapsule Medical. His responsibilities include strategic planning, Board reporting, company funding, accounting and finance operations, including oversight of HR and IT functions. Tony also has experience working at the financial services start up myCFO where he was part of a team that provided tax consulting services to high net worth individuals and Silicon Valley entrepreneurs, including tax planning regarding pre-IPO stock positions, including stock options and founder stock. Prior to myCFO Tony held senior manager positions at the multinational accounting firms of KPMG and Ernst & Young where he provided tax consulting and planning services to executives and private and public companies. Tony has a BS in accounting from the University of Florida, and Masters in Taxation from Pace University. He is a Certified Public Accountant in California and holds a commercial pilot license with a flight instructor rating. With 4 kids, Tony spend his time between his multiple projects, his family and helping Living Well to become a leader in the eldercare field.
Tiffaney Rae has 10 years of experience in Customer and Client Services and Relations, 5 years of which have been in office support roles, assisting high level executives with the day to day workings of their companies. She is highly organized and motivated. She takes great pride in helping people, and her interpersonal skills are above reproach. Her dedication to her job, no matter what its tasks entail, is key to her current role with Living Well. When she is not managing the office, tending to our client's needs or assisting potential clients, and Living Well staff, she can be found spending time with her son and fiancé, in Tiburon, CA, or studying in pursuit of her Juris Doctorate.
Mimi has +20 years of nursing experience, working at UCSF wth all type of patients with chronic and debilitating diseases, including geriatric and pediatric care. At Living Well Mimi uses her expertise as patient advocate and healthcare advocate to bring peace of mind to clients and family members.
Her healthcare advocacy includes but is not limited to, assisting clients make informed choices regarding available options and resources within the healthcare system, working with clients at all levels of care in the healthcare system, explaining diagnoses and procedures, assisting in considering alternate treatment options, clarification of personal values as they relate to medical treatments, coordination of medical services, case management. Discharge planning, arrangement of community-based services, assisting with complex medical decision-making, helping arrange second opinions and securing services from other medical systems, and advocating for clients with insurance systems and healthcare providers.
Mimi provides peace of mind to our clients by identifying health risks early, removing obstacles to care, providing timely access to care, delivering personalized care and promoting safe/quality outcomes. Mimi lives in Marin county, married, and a mother of five, when she is not advocating for Living Well clients she is taking care of her family and her lovely cats.
Jeanne Jennings RN has 14 years experience as a nurse serving in the San Francisco Bay Area. She brings with her a wealth of experience in Hospice and Palliative Care, as well as public health and Psychiatric Nursing. While volunteering she found serving with seniors the most rewarding by working to find ways to allow people to safely age in their own homes. Jeanne has completed training in Beginning and Gentle Yoga, and taught Yoga and Meditation classes for the past ten years. She leads weekly Yoga classes at the Integral Yoga Institute and community centers in the Bay Area. Jeanne will help further Living Well members' wellbeing as part of our Case Management Team.
Elke is a graduate of Notre Dame de Namur University in Belmont, California, where she studied both Economics and Finance. She was a Founder of AgeSong, Inc., an innovative development and management company of elder housing communities where she worked for over 10 years and which won the 2006 American Society on Aging - National Award for Excellence in the Field of Aging. Elke has over 20 years of management and marketing experience in the field of high tech and aging. She is licensed by the California Department of Social Services as a Residential Care Facility for the Elderly Administrator and is the Vice President of the Board of the San Francisco Residential Care Association. Elke is passionately involved in aging, health and longevity issues and partnered with Living Well to support the outreach and business development efforts. In her free time, you will find her out in nature with her son or at the family restaurant, Hayes & Kebab, a Mediterranean Grill in San Francisco.
Janet is a licensed clinical psychologist who specializes in providing mental health and wellness services to older adults, their families and caregivers. She completed her predoctoral clinical training in neuropsychology at Laguna Honda Hospital and her postdoctoral training at the Institute on Aging in San Francisco and Bay Area Psychological Services. Over the past seventeen years, she has worked with older adults, their families, and caregivers to assess and treat mental health challenges associated with the second half of life including late life depression, anxiety, complicated bereavement, adjustment disorders, substance abuse problems, and cognitive impairment.
Paul W. Lofholm received his Doctor of Pharmacy Degree from the University of California at San Francisco in 1964. He joined the Faculty at his Alma Mater in 1966. He is a Clinical Professor of Pharmacy. He is a community pharmacist, teacher, nursing home consultant and owner of Ross Valley Pharmacy in Larkspur, CA and Golden Gate Pharmacy in San Rafael, CA. He has received the Daniel B. Smith Award in 1972 presented by the American Pharmaceutical Association as the Outstanding Community Pharmacist of the Nation. He received the Alumnus of the Year Award from UCSF in 1976. The Albert E. Rossica Award was presented to him as the Preceptor of the Year in 1986. The Victor H. Morganroth, Jr. Memorial Award was presented in 1995 for outstanding contributions to improve patient care, pharmacy practice and education. The J. Leon Lascoff Award was presented for outstanding service to the profession in 1997. He was elected to the CPhA Hall of Fame in 2006 and he was the Pharmacist of the Year in 2007. He has developed an innovative practice severing several niches. The pharmacy is Medicare Certified for diabetes education. Pain and hormone replacement preparations are regularly compounded and we serve on the Hospice Pain Management team.
Courtney Jones, PharmD earned her Doctorate of Pharmacy degree from Ferris State University in 2006. Currently she is the Pharmacist-in-Charge at Golden Gate Pharmacy. Dr. Jones has completed extensive training in pharmaceutical compounding from the Pharmaceutical Compounding Centers of America. She is certified to administer immunizations and has completed a certificate program in Community Aging, Assisted Living, and Long Term Care Pharmacy. She is a member of the Phi Lambda Sigma Leadership Society, American Pharmacists Association, National Community Pharmacy Association, California and Michigan Pharmacist Association, American College of Veterinary Pharmacy, American Society of Consultant Pharmacists, American Society of Health-Systems Pharmacists, and the Marin County Pharmaceutical Association.
Elizabeth Krivatsy is an estate planning and elder law attorney based in Sausalito, California. She is passionate about helping people plan for the best possible future — drafting wills and trusts that reflect their values and protect their assets, preparing for personal care and financial management during times of incapacity, and choosing where and how they will live in retirement. Her work combines a lifetime of professional, personal, and volunteer experiences to help clients fully understand all of their options. Elizabeth often speaks to community and professional organizations about aging in place, planning for retirement living, preventing elder financial abuse, and making informed end-of-life decisions. She is a founding member of BNI Network 54, she has co-chaired the Sausalito Chamber of Commerce's Membership Committee for two years, and she provides pro bono legal services to vulnerable elders through Legal Aid of Marin and her church. Elizabeth lives in Sausalito with her husband Adam Krivatsy and a sweet Yellow Lab named Akayla, who sheds 12 months a year.
Ms. Rosenblatt is a Registered Nurse with ten years of experience in nursing, and twenty-seven years of experience as a lawyer, representing injured persons. She has been a mediator for three years, after representing many clients at mediation as their advocate. Her areas of expertise as a mediator include personal injury, elder abuse and neglect, and a variety of other subjects including defective products, medical negligence, parent-teacher-school conflicts and real estate disputes. She has considerable experience in working with elders, social services concerning them, and the families of elders. Ms. Rosenblatt is a passionate advocate for Living Well members' wellbeing.
Lucas Hatch is a partner in Parallel Advisors, an independent wealth management firm. Parallel works with individuals and families to achieve their financial goals by providing clear, concise financial planning coupled with portfolio construction and asset allocation recommendations. Lucas brings deep wealth management, private banking, and credit expertise to the firm. Prior to joining Parallel Advisors, Lucas Hatch was Vice President and Sr. Relationship Manager for Wachovia Wealth Management. Lucas was the first relationship manager hired to Wachovia's Private Banking expansion team in Northern California in 2007. His responsibilities included serving as the primary point of contact to affluent and high net worth clients. He worked closely with a team of experienced specialists to offer financial planning, trust and estate services, investment management, brokerage, insurance and customized credit solutions. Prior to joining Wachovia in 2007, Lucas was a Vice President and Private Banker with Wells Fargo in San Francisco for 6 years where he held a similar position providing financial solutions to high net worth clients. He has been in the financial services industry for more than 13 years.
Lucas graduated from the University of Southern California in 1993 with a B.S. in Business Administration. Lucas serves on the Board of Overseers for the Bay Area Chapter of Peer Health Exchange, a national non-profit organization that trains college students to teach a health curriculum in public high schools. Lucas lives in Mill Valley with his wife and 2 young children and is passionate about bringing his experience to Living Well members and families to plan well and age well.
Marc is the President of Universal Design Specialists. Universal Design is the design of any space to be accessible to all who use the space regardless of age, ability or disability. Marc designs and builds accessible homes and offices to enable people with all needs to live Safely, Independently and with Dignity in their homes for as long as possible. Our solutions also allow caregivers to assist without the added risk of personal injury. His combination of design expertise and general contracting background since 1992 specializing in this specific field enables us to provide solutions for every need.
